Our Mission & Movement
Updates from April
More than 200 leaders showed out for the North and Northeast Baltimore communities meeting with DOT Director, Veronica McBeth. We asked and got commitments from the DOT around four dangerous intersections along Northern Parkway and look forward to strengthening our relationship with Director McBeth and making progress on our issues.
We’re seeing some real movement on our housing campaign! Coppin Heights CDC (a BUILD member) broke ground in Coppin Heights to start work on the first three of many vacants to be rehabilitated in District 7 along the North Ave. corridor.
BUILD leaders show up! Even on a Monday night Zoom call, we had close to 100 leaders join us for our annual meeting where we approved BUILD’s 2026 budget and priorities. We also thanked Strategy Team members, Rev. George Hopkins and Fr. Joe Muth, who have stepped off the team after many years of deftly stewarding BUILD , and welcomed two new Strategy Team members, Ryan James of Cathedral of the Incarnation and Rev. Jonathan Wade of Macedonia Baptist Church.
BUILD has been listening to communities across West Baltimore. We’ve held multiple listening sessions, house meetings, and neighborhood walks in Central West Baltimore, Coppin Heights, Druid Heights, Edmondson Village, and Franklin Square. Look for more opportunities to get to know your neighbors.
